If you have a Pensioner Concession, State Concession, State Senior or both a State Senior and Commonwealth Senior Health Card you could be entitled to a substantial rebate or concession on your water bills.

• What if you have already registered?

If you have already registered with the Water Corporation as a senior or pensioner you need not re-apply unless there has been a change in your circumstances (such as your name, address or eligibility status)

• What are your entitlements as a cardholder?

If you are a Pensioner Concession or State Concession Card holder you could receive a rebate of up to 50% on your annual service charges account or may be eligible to defer those charges.  You may also be eligible for a concession on your water usage charges.

If you are a State Seniors Card holder you could receive a rebate of up to 25% (capped) on your annual service charges account.

If you are a holder of both a State Seniors Card and a Commonwealth Seniors Health Card you could receive a rebate of up to 50% on your annual service charges or may be eligible to defer those charges.

Partial concessions are also available to pensioners and seniors who own and occupy their property at 1 July 2010 and become eligible during the financial year.

The partial concession will apply from the date your application is received by the Water Corporation or your local shire, whichever is earlier.

Concessions available to Owner/Occupiers

• How do you qualify for an Annual Service Charges rebate?

To qualify you must:

1. Hold a valid Pensioner Concession Card, State Concession Card, State Seniors Card or both a State Senior and Commonwealth Senior Health Card, and
2. Be a registered owner, Department of Housing shared equity owner, co-owner or life tenant under the terms of the probated will of a deceased estate, or other relevant interest in the property,
3. Be the owner and occupier of the property as your ordinary place of residence as at 1 July 2010, and
4. Pay your portion of the Corporation's annual service charge (the "rebated amount") prior to 30 June each financial year, plus any arrears.

Additionaly, if you are on a life lease you must:

• reside in a retirement village under a lease for life arrangement and pay a substantial upfront fee; or
  

• reside in a lifestyle village/park home park or caravan park under a long term lease and own their own transportable home/caravan; or

• under the terms of their lease, are contractually obliged to pay the rates in question to the village/park owner/operator.

Where the rated property is subject to co-ownership (other than a spouse or defacto) a partial rebate may apply.

How do you apply for a rebate?

Simply call the Water Corporation on 1300 659 951 and we can take your application over the telephone. Please have your concession card handy as you will need to provide the card details to the call centre representative handling your call. Once your application is approved, details will be forwarded automatically to your local shire so that you may receive the rebate on your shire rates.

When do you need to make an application by?

Full Concessions
To receive the full concession for the 2010/2011 financial year you must meet all of the conditions stated in the section "How do you qualify for an Annual Service Charge rebate". In addition, you must hold a valid card(s) as at 1 July 2010 and the application must be received on or before 1 July 2010.

Partial Concessions
You may be entitled to a partial concession if you hold a valid card(s) issued after 1 July 2010, and were the owner and occupier of the residence as at 1 July 2010.

A partial concession is available from the date your application is received.

Concessions available to Tenants

• What if you are renting?

If you are a Pensioner Concession Card holder or State Concession Card holder who is renting a property, you can apply to receive a water usage concession.

• How do you qualify for a water usage concession?

To qualify you must occupy the property and be responsible for the water usage charges for the full period to which the charge relates.

• How do you apply for a concession?

Simply call the Water Corporation on 1300 659 951 before the due date on your water usage account and we can take your application over the telephone. Please have your concession card handy as you will need to provide the card details to the call centre representative handling your call.
