Data logging identifies underground leak

A data logger was installed at the Potshot Hotel in Exmouth as part of the Waterwise Towns program. This enabled them to closely monitor their water usage and after identifying a leak they reduced their daily water use by 70%.

Conduct a basic water audit

How they did it

Once the data logger was installed, daily reports quickly identified there was an undetected leak. After a great deal of searching by a plumber, one leak was found and repaired, then a second one under the pub itself.

The cost to repair this leak was recovered in just a matter of weeks.

This graph shows how water usage increased as the hidden pipe leak got worse and then after the leak was fixed.

What they're doing now

Potshot Hotel will continue to monitor the water use via the data logger graphs and be ready to investigate unusual spikes in use.
