Ashfield Water Pipeline Upgrades

What’s happening?

We plan to install a new underground water pipe near Ashfield Train Station as a replacement to an existing pipeline.

Where is this happening?

This work is happening along Railway Parade and Guildford Road, with some work happening within Ashfield Reserve.

What to expect?

From early February, preparation work will commence within a section of Ashfield Reserve (Corner Fisher Street and Guilford Road) to set up our site office and storage area for the project. You may notice extra construction vehicles and minor traffic management around this area.

Construction work will commence from mid February to construct two large pits, at Ashfield Reserve, and Railway Parade (see map). The pits will allow a microtunelling machine to drill and install a new pipe under Guildford Road to Railway Parade to connect to our existing water pipe network.

This construction method will minimise the traffic impact to Guildford Road and Railway Parade. To safely complete this essential work, however, we will temporarily close one lane on Railway Parade and Guildford Road.

As with any construction activities, there will be an increase in vehicle movement, noise, and dust in the area. We will aim to keep impacts to the community to a minimum wherever possible and keep the area tidy.

When is this happening?

Preparation work will commence in early February 2025, with the expected completion time in May 2025.

During this period, we will generally work from Monday to Saturday between 7am and 5pm. When night work is required, we will notify you in advance.
