Small, short-lived, perennial plants from South Africa that form small clumps of green, grey-green or silver-grey leaves and carry large colourful daisy flowers, sometimes with patterned markings, in a range of colours from white to yellow, orange, pink and light purple. There are many cultivars. Often self-seeds. Gazania linearis is already well established as an environmental weed especially on the coast. Not recommended for planting near bushland.
