Spreading shrub with fine, green leaves, hairy when young but smooth when mature. Produces reddish/mauve flowers in terminal clusters in summer and occasionally at other times of the year. Very attractive to birds. A selected form called 'Green Carpet' is also available. This plant may only be available at specialist nurseries.
