Very hardy perennials forming loose clumps of strap-like leaves and short stems topped with blue or white tubular flowers. Frost and drought tolerant. Sun or part shade, but much better in full sun. Good for a hardy, colourful border.

Cultivars with flowers in shades of blue include 'Baby Pete', 'Baby Blue', 'Blue Dwarf', 'Blue Storm', 'Peter Pan' (pale blue) and 'Tinkerbelle' (with variegated foliage). White flowered forms include 'Snowball' and 'Snowstorm'.
