Very hardy perennials forming clumps of bright green, strap-like leaves and tall stems topped with balls of blue or white tubular flowers. Frost and drought tolerant. Sun or part shade, but much better in full sun. Good for a hardy, colorful border.

Cultivars with flowers in shades of blue include 'Black Pantha', 'Blue Brush', 'Blue Storm', 'Kingston Blue', 'Lavender Haze', 'Midnight Bells', 'Purple Cloud', 'Queen Anne', 'Queen Mum' (blue and white flowers), 'Regal Beauty', 'Summer Blue' and 'Wavy Navy'. White flowered forms include 'Alba', 'Getty's White', 'Strawberry Ice' (tinged with pink) and' Summer Pearl'.
