Indian Summer Crepe Myrtle

Deciduous shrubs or small trees to 5 metres high and 4 metres wide. Often low branching but may be pruned to a single trunk when young. Older trunk has smooth, decorative, new bark. Leaves are dark green and dense. Massed, showy, crinkled flowers are produced over the outside of the plant in spring and summer.

Cultivars include: 'Acoma' (to 3m with white flowers), 'Biloxi' (pale pink flowers), 'Commanche' (coral pink flowers), 'Natchez' (white flowers), 'Sioux' (large pink flowers), 'Tonto' (pink flowers), and 'Tuscarora' (pink flowers). Most of the cultivars are resistant to powdery mildew. They may be hard pruned if necessary.
