Deciduous tree producing edible fruits. Can grow to 6 metres high although many small and even dwarf varieties are becoming available including 'pole' apples which grow as single trunk, skinny trees. Older varieties generally crop best in cold SW areas. Look for 'low chill' types for planting around Perth and parts north. Two trees are required for pollination in most cases seek advice from you garden centre.

Popular cultivars include 'Pink Lady', 'Granny Smith', 'Fuji', 'Gala' and 'Red Heart'.
