Project goal:

We are upgrading the wastewater infrastructure to cater for the continued growth within the City of Swan and City of Wanneroo.

Type of project:

Wastewater pipeline

New wastewater pipeline

This project is part of the City of Swan water upgrades

Status:

In construction

Delivery Date:

December 2025

What’s happening?

We are installing a 6 km of single wastewater pipeline and 8.2 km of dual wastewater pipeline to cater for the continued growth within the City of Swan and City of Wanneroo.

Where is this happening?

This pipeline will extend from the existing Barrambie Way wastewater pump station in Henley Brook and connect to the existing wastewater network in Madeley. Please refer to the project map for the location of the pipeline.

When is this taking place?

Construction is planned to commence mid-August and is estimated for completion in late 2025.

How will this impact the community?

As with any construction activities there will be an increase in noise, dust and activity in the area. There will also be temporary impacts to roads, verges and pedestrian paths.

We will keep the community updated as the project progresses and be in touch before construction commences in your area.

As a short section of the pipeline will be installed through the Gnangara Pines. We have worked closely with the Department of Biodiversity, Conservation and Attractions (DBCA), the City of Swan and our environmental team, to minimise any potential impact to the area during and after construction.

We follow a thorough reinstatement process to ensure all impacted areas are replaced like for like, where practically possible. We will also work closely with the City of Swan, City of Wanneroo, businesses and residents to ensure all reinstatements are carried out to an acceptable and high standard.

Night work on Gnangara Road - March 2025

What is happening?

We are installing two kilometres of traffic barriers along the westbound lane of Gnangara Road, between Tonkin Highway and Alexander Drive. This will allow us to safely maintain traffic flow when work to install pipe in this area commences. We apologise for any inconvenience and thank you for your ongoing patience while we complete this essential work.

When is this happening?

Work to install traffic barriers will be completed utilising night shifts from 8pm until 5am, commencing Monday 24 March and is expected to be completed by Friday 28 March 2025.

How will this impact me?
During the work hours of 8pm until 5am, westbound traffic along Gnangara Road will be closed between Tonkin Highway and Alexander Drive. A detour will be in place for vehicles to exit at Tonkin Highway and re-enter Gnangara Road via Alexander Drive.

Between the hours of 5am until 8pm, westbound traffic through our work area along Gnangara Road will be reopened to 60km/h single lane only. To avoid traffic disruptions along Gnangara Road during this time, we recommend you consider using an alternate route if available when planning your journey.

What to expect:
  • Work is being completed over night shifts to reduce traffic disruptions and provide a safe work area for our crew & the community.
  • Increased noise, activity, and vehicle movements inside our work area. Appropriate noise management measures will be in place to reduce noise impacts for nearby residents.
  • All areas impacted by the work, including verges and footpaths, will be returned to as close to their original condition as possible.
