Councils recognised for leading the way in water sustainability

Water Minister Dave Kelly has congratulated WA’s top water saving councils for demonstrating leadership and excellence in sustainable water management. A total of 19 councils have been recognised, with some saving as much as 14% of their regular water use as part of the Waterwise Council Program.

Waterwise development secures key UDIA sustainability awards

WGV at White Gum Valley recently won both the Urban Water Excellence and Sustainable Urban Development awards at this years’ Urban Development Institute of Australia (UDIA) Awards for Excellence. WGV is a LandCorp ‘Innovation through Demonstration’ project and an endorsed Waterwise Development. JBA is the Landscape Architect, Urban Water and Sustainability Consultant for WGV and drove the delivery of the WGV Waterwise Development Exemplar initiative. The Waterwise Development is targeting a 60% - 70% reduction in mains water use across the various housing typologies. Key water saving initiatives include a community bore irrigation supply for use in both public and private gardens, as well as lot-scale rainwater harvesting systems for toilets and washing machines.
